It's always been a dream of mine to write books.  I can remember stapling sheets of paper together as a child and creating stories or other creative writing works.  As I got older, my childhood hobby never died, but took a backseat to "life"...school, work, parenthood!  However, making time for what was once an enjoyable hobby always remained a priority. 

I got the idea for Alex and Tony about a year ago.  As a parent, I see a need for children to have more than entertaining books to read.  Yes entertainment is good, but I saw a need to couple lesson learning literature along with the entertainment.  Alex and Tony are inspired by my children who's middle names are Alexander (Alex) and Anthony (Tony).  They, like my children, are curious twin boys who have a thirst for knowledge.  In the first book, Alex and Tony Learn to be Gentlemen, the main characters learn from their father an extremely valuable lesson about what it means to be a gentleman.  Because they admire their father and look up to him, they are determined to demonstrate gentleman-like behavior as they witness their father behave towards their mother.  In the books to come,  it will become more evident of the vital roles that Alex and Tony's parents play in their learning.  You've heard the saying that "parents are the first teachers," right? Well these parents are definitely a great source of knowledge for their children.

This book is just the beginning of a series of "character books" for children.  The series will cover topics that parents either struggle or neglect to discuss with their children.  The plan is that it will open dialogue between children and adults about the things mentioned in the books.  Hopefully,  I can do good enough explaining some of these topics in the books and make the jobs of parents (guardians, teachers, etc) a little easier!

 I'm excited about the present and future of Alex and Tony. Being published is really a dream come true.  Expect more because it's definitely coming!
